Footprints in the Valley is a video essay and part of a project that Norwegian artist Eline Benjaminsen is pursuing with Indigenous land rights activist Elias Kimaiyo. It explores how forests are commercialised in emissions trading: the capacity of forest landscapes to store carbon is traded as a product to promote environmentally friendly practices.
The work has been presented at several international venues and festival, including KUNST HAUS WIEN, Noorderlicht International Photography Festival, Groningen (2023) and Biennale für Aktuelle Fotografie, Mannheim (2022).
